Sony Working On Follow Up To The Xperia Z With 20 Megapixel Camera

Since it was launched back in January, the Sony Xperia Z has already clocked up some impressive sales figures, with four million sales under its belt. The Xperia Z is the most impressive offering to date from the Japanese manufacturer, and has achieved impressive sales given the level of competition from the market.

The spec list of the Sony Xperia Z makes it easy to see why its been such a popular device. Among its key features of 5 inch 1080p high definition display, 1.5 GHz quad-core processor, Android Jellybean operating system and a 13.1 megapixel camera. Furthermore, the phone is also set apart by its IP55 and IP57 certifications, meaning it is dust proof and waterproof.

Of course, the Xperia Z is now facing tougher competition than in previous months, thanks to the recent launch of devices like the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S4. It appears that Sony is already working on a follow up device for the Xperia Z, according to uSwitch. Although the phone is yet to be officially announced, it was reported to include a similar 5 inch high definition display, along with an ample 2.3 GHz quad-core processor and perhaps most notably a 20 megapixel camera. Of course, this camera is the standout feature of the device, which is also rumoured to include of Carl Zeiss optics and Sony’s Cybershot sensor.

It is reported that the phone will also include 2 GB of RAM, a dedicated Walkman audio chip and a hefty 3000mAh battery capacity. Obviously, take this information with a pinch of salt for now as the phone is yet to be officially announced. The website reports that we can expect the handset be officially unveiled at the IFA trade show this September in Berlin, but we are likely to hear more information about the device over the coming weeks.
